Q. What hair extension methods does Coquette's do?
* Coquette's specializes in the finest quality natural, virgin, remy, 100% human hair fusion extensions and sew-in weaves.

* Coquette Hair is unprocessed 100% human hair, there is absolutely no artificial or non-human hair mixed in with it. All our cuticles are in the same direction, preventing tangling and matting.

Q. How are Coquette's Fusion Extensions applied?

* Coquette Hair Fusion Extensions are applied strand on strand with a specially formulated KERATIN Bond (it is not glue) that will not damage your natural hair.

Q. How are Coquette's Sew-in Weaves applied?
* Coquette’s Sew-in Weaves are applied by flat braiding your own hair in a special pattern and then wefts of our hair are sewn onto the braid and a style is created.

Q. Will hair extensions damage my hair?

* A proper consultation is important to ascertain that the client is a good candidate for hair extensions. While hair extensions work well and do not do damage to the clients' hair for most people, there are a small percentage whose hair will not be able to support any type of extension. Clients who are not good candidates for hair extensions include:  Ongoing genetic hair loss, alopecia, Clients receiving chemotherapy treatment, Clients on medications which are causing hair loss, Clients suffering hair loss due to thyroid or other hormonal imbalances, Clients with genetically baby fine and thin hair.

*As long as the hair extensions are applied properly and YOU take the PROPER CARE of them there should be no damage.

Q. How much do Coquette’s Hair Extensions Cost?

*A consultation is needed to determine an exact price.

*Fusion extensions with hair and service range between $650 and $1500.

*Sew- In Weaves with hair and service start at $500.

*We do require $150 deposit to hold all hair extension appointments, of course the deposit will be deducted off your final bill.

Q. How long do Coquette’s Extensions last?

*There are some hair extension companies who proclaim that extensions can stay in your hair for over 6 months. Sure extensions can stay in your hair that long, but just because something can be done, should it be done? In this situation, the answer is a serious NO! Your natural growing hair sheds about 100 hairs a day, on the average. These are the hairs you find in your hairbrush and in your shower drain. This natural mechanism of hair shedding plays a critical role in determining the 'safe' amount of time an extension attachment can be worn.

*Here at Coquette’s we recommend keeping Fusion Extensions no longer than 3 months and Sew-In Weaves no longer than 2 months.  We want to keep you looking your best!!

*Fusion Extensions

When Fusion extensions are in your hair, your natural hair is still shedding at its normal rate, and the shedding hair becomes trapped in the hair extensions. So after 3 months of wearing extensions, due to the natural shedding factor, the extensions will be attached to fewer or your natural hairs. For example, the extension that was originally attached by 20 of your natural hairs now may be only attached by 15 of your natural hairs, thus causing the possibility of breakage of your natural hair and 'root pull'.
Root pull occurs when your natural hair has shed so much in the extension bond that the extension is attached by fewer hairs that can't continue to support the weight of the extension. When this occurs, your natural hair will succumb to the weight of the extension and your natural hair will be pulled out by the root. Another very critical reason why any type of extension should not be worn longer than our recommended time is because the natural hairs that have shed and are 'stuck' in the extension bond has the tendency to want to form matting at the root.

*Sew-In Weaves

When wearing a Sew-in Weave your natural hair is still shedding at its normal rate, but the shedding hair becomes trapped in the braid. Which can cause matting between the braid and your natural hair growth. So to keep your natural hair healthy we recommend having your weave removed at 2 months. Then properly brushed out, washed and deep conditioned. You will then be ready for your new weave.

Q. Will my extensions look natural?
* Your extensions will be totally undetectable and we will be able to create an exact match to your own hair color. They will feel soft, silky and natural and will become like your own hair. However, it will take a few days to adjust to having extensions in your hair. After that initial adjustment period, you will forget that you are even wearing them.

Q. How do I care for my extensions?
* To ensure that your hair extensions stay in optimal shape, it is very important to follow all of the below instructions. In our experience, if a client calls with a problem, it's usually because they did not follow the below instructions:
* It is recommended that you detangle the extensions before washing them by using a   specific soft bristle brush. We have the brush here for you to purchase.

* It is recommended that you check the extensions daily for any tangling of matting. You can easily prevent any matting from happening with proper brushing and 'spot' checking. You will be shown how to perform these easy tasks by one of our stylists.
* Detangle the extensions before getting into the shower and then after washing your hair. Start at the bottom of the hair and work your way up.
* Wash and condition hair IMMEDIATELY after going swimming.
* Wash hair immediately after exercising. The salts in perspiration can cause hair to tangle.
* It's best to dry hair immediately after shampooing. At the very least, dry the bond area, and then you can let the rest air dry if necessary. To dry, pat the hair with a towel. Do not rub the hair with the towel since that cause tangling.
* Do not put undo tension on the hair.
* NEVER go to sleep with wet hair, as it will cause the hair to tangle.
* Tie the hair into a pony tail or braid when sleeping to prevent tangling.
* The better you take care of the hair, the longer life span it will have. It is NOT recommended that you color the hair yourself.
* There is a range of aftercare products specially designed for your extensions to keep them in perfect condition. To keep the hair in optimal condition, the use of professional products is highly recommended. The use of inferior products will reduce the lifespan of the hair.
* Rinse the shampoo out of hair thoroughly to avoid build up.
* Do not use any 'heat tools' (curling iron, flat iron) directly on the extension bond, since the heat may make the extension come out.
* Keep your scalp clean and oil free.

Q. What about hair shedding with extensions?
* It is considered normal that people shed approximately 100 hairs a day. Your natural hair will still shed at its usual rate but will be unable to release due to the extensions attachment. When the extensions are removed, the naturally exfoliated hair will be combed out. This is not considered excessive hair loss.
* If you take care of your extensions, upon removal of extensions there should not be excessive tangling or matting problems. If the client fails to care for their hair as recommended, and matting does occur, an extra fee may be charged for the extra time spent to remove the tangles and extensions

Q. How long does my hair have to be to get hair extensions?
* Your overlapping layer (the layer that covers the extensions' bonds or weave) must be at least 4" long. Extensions can be placed as close as 1" from your hairline. In general, the longer your natural hair, the more seamlessly the extensions will blend into your hair.

Q. Why do the extensions need to be removed and re-attached?
* The extensions will grow out as your hair grows out. As this occurs, the weight will shift further down your hair shaft and create tension on your natural hair. Furthermore, it is common that people shed approximately 100 hairs a day. Your natural hair will still shed at its usual rate but will be unable to release due to the extensions attachment. If you wear the hair longer than the recommended time period, those exfoliated hairs may cause excessive matting of your natural hair. Therefore, the extension hair needs to be removed and re-attached.
